Alton Leroy Stanwood

On April 26, 2006, Leroy Stanwood passed away at his home after a brief illness. He was 82 years old. Leroy is remembered and missed by the many people he touched during his long, happy, and productive life. In his own words:

"As I look back on my life I can see that I have come a long way and I feel a sense of accomplishment. I have had a lot of struggles but I have also had a lot of things of which I am very proud. I learned to walk when they said I never would. I got my own apartment and I got all the things that to some seemed impossible. My life has been full and I have learned that in every struggle there is pain. For every dream there is hope and without hope there is no life. Dreams come true for those who have hope and fight for what they want. If I have one piece of advice to give others with disabilities, it is to never let your disability keep you from dreaming."
